According to an article published in the European Journal of Cancer colon cancer survival rate varies by country. A five year survival rate refers to the percentage of patients survive, five years after diagnosis. For example in America the overall five-year survival rate for colon cancer is 62% and 43% in Europe. The reason of this rate may caused by quality of treatment and colon cancer screening programs. Generally people who have early diagnosed could have higher percentage of  colon cancer survival rates.  The earlier colon cancer is detected, the easier it is to treat. Percentage survival rate of the patient depends on how early the disease has been detected as well as how early the patient starts treatment.

Colon cancer survival rate determined of the earlier stage colon cancer detected. According to research published by ANZ Journal of Surgery showed that in Australia the five-year survival rate for stage 1 colon cancer was 93%. This figure however dropped to 59% in stage 3 of colon cancer.

This study reported the number of hours per week they participated in various types of physical activity. They doing the phisical activity include walking, jogging, taking the stairs, yoga, biking, and swimming. The point of this study is women who increased their activity levels after being diagnosed with colorectal cancer had about a 50% higher colon cancer survival rate than women who made no changes.
